Kuala Lumpur - part 2
Dear Gentle Reader
Day 2 in Kuala Lumper was a rest day, we slept in late as we had not slept well on the plane. We went down for a late breakfast, which was quite enjoyable, in the hotel lounge. We then packed up ready to leave as we had booked a half-day tour of KL and would have to leave straight after the tour finished.
Last night we dined in the Skyline Restaurant with views like this.
This the Maybank tower in the background and the Skyline tower in front with infinity pool in the foreground.Of course, the Petronas Towers all lit up.
We were picked up at 2pm in a minibus which drove us all over town to another location and were bundled into another mini-bus. Both were mercifully air-conditioned.
The first mini-bus had the most unusual gear stick I have ever seen. (Yes, most vehicles in KL are manual)
See the long fiberglass cylinder? Yes that is the gear stick, I was amazed he could even change gears with it, but somehow he managed.
We were taken to numerous locations, including the local museum, which housed a lot of history of KL.
Children are given opportunities to amuse themselves without using screens. Here you can see them attempting to walk with stilts. Should bring this into Australia!
We were then taken to this chocolate factory to sample its wares. I reckon the tourist company gets a kickback for this as everyone bought chocolate here, including yours truly.
But the highlight of the tour was these two beauties, the twin Petronas Towers. The photo does not do them justice - they are awesome to stand beneath. It's like the Grand Canyon, you can see all the pictures, but until you stand at the rim and gaze at it, you cannot describe the feeling. You just have to be there.
And here is the Sky Bridge, 44 floors up spanning the two buildings. Saves having to go all the way down to the Ground Floor to cross over to the other building.
Once the tour was over it was back to the hotel to collect our luggage and out to the airport to catch our flight to Rome.
